Glyndŵr University has commissioned Unco to work on the first phase of the redevelopment of its website as part of its rebranding from the former North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI).
The Glasgow and Aberdeen-based digital agency is embarking upon a research and planning task for the university which will devise and open the scope for a more engaging, user-friendly and cost-effective site.
Glyndŵr University, awards University of Wales degrees and is based in Wrexham, in north-east Wales.
Unco’s work will improve journeys through the site for the University’s many audiences, which range from potential and current students and staff, to business and community users of the campuses’ sports and conference facilities. Improving these journeys will make the site more productive and enjoyable, and ultimately will ensure that recruitment targets are more effectively met and use of the University facilities is optimised.
Danielle Perigoe, Head of Marketing and Student Recruitment at Glyndŵr University, was initially impressed by Unco’s experience in the higher education sector, which includes similar work for Durham and Cambridge Universities. ‘I am also encouraged by their commitment to taking a strategic approach. In this sector you cannot afford to commission web design without knowing why you are doing it. Studies regularly show that the internet is the first place students from all walks of life turn for information about making the important decision about where to study. It’s crucial that they can get the information they need quickly and effectively in a highly competitive marketplace..’
Kate Bordwell, Unco’s planning director, added, ‘The rebranding of an institution with a large digital footprint is always a fascinating process and we are delighted to have been invited to take part in ensuring that this is a success in digital space.’
